deception pass state park | washington state parks
This civil engineering project relocated the main entry into the popular Deception Pass State park. Rich Murakami was part of the team and responsible for the architectural design of the Ranger Contact Station and a new restroom facility at the south end of the Deception Pass Bridge. Developed in the 1930s, the park’s structures were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) using copious amounts of wood and stone. The designs for the Ranger Contact Station and restroom took cues from the CCC structures by incorporating similar materials and architectural expression.
