Senior Technical Designer
“I enjoy the positive impact we have on a hard working family by creating a beautiful, affordable place to live, or even an impact on an entire community—having an historic building restored in their neighborhood.”
Growing up in Yakima, Doug was around architectural design as far back as he can remember. His father started his own design firm out of their house. Doug, still in grade school, printed blueprints of the finished plans. It took a trip to Europe in 1999 to really spark Doug’s interest in architecture. He joined the family business and began drafting house plans, learning CAD in the process.
Doug went on to work for a number of Seattle firms doing a wide variety of projects including custom homes, commercial buildings, and hotels. He was afforded the opportunity to work as an apprentice carpenter for a year at a design-build firm, which gave him an understanding of construction and what is needed in drafting a set of plans.
In 2008, Doug landed at Kovalenko Hale Architects where he enjoyed working on historic restoration and affordable-housing projects. In 2014, Kovalenko Hale merged with Rolluda Architects where Doug now continues to work on many different and exciting projects.
In Doug’s spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, playing and writing music with his band, and cooking.
