Shawn Queen

Senior Project Designer

“I truly have a heart for serving people – I am passionate about the process of providing meaningful design solutions to clients. I feel fortunate to be part of organizations whose values match my approach to architecture – one which is client-centered but also respectful of the built and natural environment in which we all live.”

Shawn loves design as a profession – it is a magnificent obsession that engages meaningful expression of the creative process. It’s an intense desire to gather tiny glimpses of the future that produces passion in all of us. It’s a vision that starts with a whisper and becomes more than great with a unique power and influence to transform thoughts, words and ideas that draw inspiration from any resource. It becomes a conscious reality signifying notable design work and accomplishment. His design background remains widely varied and includes sports stadiums, residential mixed-use, government, healthcare, public works projects, and educational facilities.

Shawn has found that he is very creative when he listens to other people. This is a valuable skill in project management, site and building design, and contract documents. As an accomplished professional he continues to strive to provide exceptional design creativity, with appropriate energy and cost efficiency.

In recent years, he has served as Project Manager for the City of Austin Southeast Bus Terminal Facility in Austin, Texas. This competitive bid project encompassed a 22-acre site development which included Administrative and Maintenance Building Facilities. The project is designed with U.S. Green Building Council incorporated guidelines.

More notable projects he’s enjoyed making design contributions to include a $551 million Safeco Field
MLB Sports Stadium in Seattle, Washington, the $1.1 billion Sea-Tac International Airport Central
Terminal Expansion, the $187 million Washington State Convention & Trade Center Expansion, and
miscellaneous other design and master-planning projects.
