The Federal Way Recreation and Community Center is the City’s civic signature, a 70,000 sf building with indoor track, gymnasium, event rooms, facilities for weights and fitness, and a two-story climbing wall. The Center also features a competition lap pool, leisure pool, restrooms, shower facilities, and locker rooms. Other amenities include an aerobic/dance studio, classrooms, game room for children and seniors, a senior center, and administrative offices.

While with his own architectural firm, Richard Murakami served as the local architect, participating in the public outreach and design. He also provided construction administration services.
