Ingraham High School

seattle public schools

The project consists of a complete renovation and a 5,650 sf addition to the 1959 high school. RAI expanded the library, enabling it to be used by two classes simultaneously. A computer lab, casual reading area, conference rooms and office were added. The new library space is open and airy, filled with natural light from a two-story window wall and clerestory windows. The library courtyard, with new landscaping and seating, is an open and inviting learning space.

The science wing was expanded and modernized to accommodate current and future technology. Enlarged classrooms and a new multipurpose classroom were created to provide flexibility for team teaching and group projects. A new greenhouse, with interior and exterior planting and work spaces was also added. Doors and relites between the science classrooms and the greenhouse bring in natural light and provide views and access between spaces.

Sustainable design features include double-paned low-e windows, improvements in roof insulation, long-life metal roofs, recycled finishes and native plantings.
