Joseph Bumatay

Associate

“Everything negative – pressure, challenges – is all an opportunity for me to rise.” – Mamba Mentality

Joseph finished his Bachelor of Science in Architecture in 1998 at the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines. He became a licensed architect and began his career working for an architectural and consultancy firm. He served as the project architect and adopted the role of CAD manager of the company. As a striving young architect, he was introduced to projects such as high-rise buildings, residential houses, and military facilities. In 2003, he got his work permit approved and moved to the United States. He arrived in Washington State and spent the following years working with various architectural and engineering firms around the Pacific Northwest.

During the early stages of his career in the US, his projects involved K-12 schools, historic buildings, and community projects. As his career continued to progress, he worked on hospitals and religious projects such as churches. In the past 10 years, he has become more involved in retail commercial, mixed-used and residential projects. To stay updated with his software proficiency, he attended trainings at Renton Technical College. Both in the Philippines and in the United States, Joseph took pride in sharing his skills and talents by training interns and newcomers on industry standards and drawing design documentations.

Outside of the office, Joseph loves spending time with his wife in exploring cuisines of different cultures, coaching his son in basketball, and teaching his daughter ballet. A Kobe Bryant fanatic, he loves playing basketball and is engaged in different activities, such as cycling, bowling, and improving his golf shots.
